You are inspired by Tiger Woods and you want to learn how to play golf. What should you do? Golf has now become a popular sport. It is an enjoyable game to play for all age ranges. As like some popular sports, starting to play it is not really as easy as just hitting a ball. You have to know some important things.
First, be knowledgeable. In almost everything, you have to know the things that might answer the “what” and the “how” questions. It is important that you know some of the basic things just like learning the sounds of the alphabet first before actually learning how to read words. Do you know how the score works in golf? What is the difference between a driving range and a golf course? Are you knowledgeable of the attire, equipment and items used in the sport? Do you know the terminologies involved? Will you be able to understand some lingo and golf slang?
When playing golf, you will need clubs and balls. If you are a beginner, you do not necessarily need to purchase right away from the nearest golf store. Most courses offer rentals. Nevertheless, if you are certain of including golf in your routine, and serious about playing, you may get a good set of clubs and balls.
There are also other golf items which you may buy once you get the hang of the game. Since you are just starting, it is best to concentrate on the basics.
Scoring is tough but basically it is done by comparing your actual to a pre-arranged score. Each course has a par score. There are number of shots you should take and be able to make to get you around that course. You can be under par or over par. Holes are assigned with par scores as well. You may study what it means when you hit a par three in two shots, three shots for a par five, or even three shots below the par. Here you may want to know some terminologies and lingo like the difference between a birdie and an eagle.
Second, you have to know these four How questions:
1. How to hold a golf club
2. How to do the proper swing
3. How to position your body
4. How to hit the ball
Third is practice. Golf can really be a very frustrating sport, but practice makes perfect. Visit the driving range nearest you. Some offer lessons and programs, you might want to enroll in. Golf instructors are very patient especially to starters.
Golf is a fun sport to play, once you’ve got your basics in mind. It may take a lot of time to get into the sport, but believe me, it’s sure worth it! Now, spend some time at greens and hope you a have a great time!
